Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Abyss - Roguelike ARPG is a very good mobile roguelite game. The main idea is that you will have to go through series of rooms fighting enemies and the boss in the end to beat the stage. Further you are, harder it gets. It have a nice balance for a mobile game between the difficulty, amount of action and progression.

Combat[edit | edit source]

Combat in Abyss - Roguelike ARPG is pretty fluid. You have different types of weapons (sword, hammer, dual pistols, lance, cannon and spells) and each of those have their own skillset.

Combat itself is pretty straightforward - you fight in the arena against groups of NPC opponents and you have to defeat them. There is no time limit, but if you take enemies fast enough to get combo and dont get hit you will get a damage multiplies (between 1 and 10% extra dmg)

Enemies[edit | edit source]

There are a lot of different enemies in the Abyss - Roguelike ARPG. Some of them are melee, some of them are ranged and some of them have skills. You can learn about each type of enemy in the bestiary and if you kill specific amount of those, your knowledge of them will go up and you will get a passive stat bonus. There are also boss enemies that are tougher than normal enemies with special attacks. Moreover you can stagger them and cut their parts for extra rewards. Reminds me of Monster Hunter.

Controls[edit | edit source]

Controls in Abyss - Roguelike ARPG are pretty good for a mobile game. You can move with a left stick and there are 4 buttons for attack: Normal attack, dodge, physical skill, magical skill.

The main issue is a dodge, since it doesnt work if you keep pressing attack button, but I suppose it doesnt happen on the phone, only on the emulator.

Progression[edit | edit source]

There are a lot of different Progression mechanics in the Abyss - Roguelike ARPG.

You can upgrade your character, your gear, your skills. Then there are dungeons that award you with specific resources that you can use to upgrade your character again, but in a different menu. And thats not the end of it. There are a lot of available upgrade mechanics in the game, so you wont get bored. Gameplay: 8/10

Difficulty[edit | edit source]

Abyss - Roguelike ARPG isnt very hard game, especially if you can get good gear. As in most mobile games gear >>> skill. But as you progress the game enemies will get harder and harder and you might start experiencing some issues with the enemies and will have to grind quite a lot.

Difficulty: 6/10

Graphics[edit | edit source]

Graphics in Abyss - Roguelike ARPG is pretty astonishing. It have distinct 3D graphical style that fits the game well.

Another good point that that good looking graphics doesnt affect your phone too much, so performance wise its not that bad. Moreover you can adjust the graphical settings to save the battery life.

Great touch is that all the gear equipped on the character can actually be seen. This is very heartwarming for a mobile game, since most of the games just slap a costume and be done with it. BTW if you want you can slap a costume on top as well, there are options.

Graphics: 9/10

Sound Design[edit | edit source]

Sounds in Abyss - Roguelike ARPG are pretty good, nothing to complain about. Weapon hits, spells and all the effects are well made.

The main problem for me personally is the music. Stage fight music gets annoying pretty fast and you want to turn it off. Although the menu music is kinda cool and fit the menu very well.

Sound Design: 6/10

F2P or P2W[edit | edit source]

Its hard to rate games on P2W scale that early. But Abyss - Roguelike ARPG have some good signs there: You will get a daily summon ticket if you finish all the quests and those quests doesnt require you to watch an AD.

When you summon gear you will get guaranteed Epic (Hardest) Rarity piece every 10 summons and the rate to get it through summoning is 4%. Moreover Gear can be acquired through special daily dungeons. So overall it will keep the inflow of the gear at a good rate and you will feel the progression over time.

P2W: 4/10

Overall Scores[edit | edit source]

Gameplay: 8/10
Difficulty: 6/10
Graphics: 9/10
Sound Design: 6/10
P2W: 4/10

Overall Score: 9/10
