Horripilant Puzzles can be fun, but some of them can be quite confusing as well, this Puzzle Guide will help you if you are stuck in some areas or just want to avoid thinking about puzzles too much.

In order to progress puzzles in Horripilant you will need to find items. Some of them are in the non-combat area, but some of them can be obtained in the Dungeon at the specific floors. For the sake of the guide we will consider items from the dungeon obtained by default (because I did one run from floor 150 to 800 and got most of them, so I don't know which floor they are in).

Main means of progress early on will be pushing the Dungeon.

The Camp[edit source]

In the camp area you have 2 doors, they can be opened by the Keys. Another Door that you can open with a key is the one behind Equipment Shop (on the left of the gear stand).

I don't remember exact key locations, so I will just list them here randomly:

  • Extinguish the fire, get the key
  • Use Lantern to light up the pile in the Backroom
  • Barrels at the Camp, you can just pick it up

You can use Lantern to Navigate the Passageway in the Crack/Rift beyond the Camp. Light it up and you will see the passage that has no enemies.

After the enemies passageway there will be 3 doors. The middle one will be the first one to open, there will be an NPC that will help you if you are stuck/lost (kind of). They are opened with the inscriptions input. Make sure to use them straight away when you acquire them.

You can also use the lantern to pick up the item in the Backroom behind the Equipment Shop where the Familiar Creature is.

The room on the left of the Camp with the Mirror can be used to input the Inscriptions that you will find on your journey. You will also need specific stone symbols to do that, you will find all of them in the Dungeon.

In order to input a Inscription use the right sequence of symbols and press central are when ready. You should see the notification saying that something has changed. Then you can go and check the area around you.

You can use the Crowbar on 2 items in the Camp:

  1. Barrels. Use it on the crack in the barrel and you will get a Dynamite.
  2. Coffins. Use it on the coffin and you will open a new passageway.

You can use Dynamite in the Sewer room on the right of the Camp on the crack and open a passageway to the Ghost room and the Stairset that is locked atm.

In the Coffin passage you will have to build a bridge to the Angel Statues. It will cost some resources, but it's not urgent, they will be useful way later.

You can get item required for the Right statue somewhere in the Dungeon ~ 800 Floor and item for the Left Statue by following this guide, it will be unlocked later in the game.

When you get access to the left door that is accessible through the Crack in the Camp you will have to solve the Puzzle. After that you will get access to the Trader where you can dump resources in exchange for a Multiplier to your Prestige Points.

There is also a device next to the trader that you will need later.

In order to kill the Ghost (it's mercy, it asked for it). you need to use the lever on the roundy thing next to a Trader and pull the lever. It will open the water flow in the Sewer room. Then you can Impale any Familiar on a spike. Then you need to go to the Equipment store and buy the Skull Amulet that instantly kills an enemy and get to the Ghost room. Use the Amulet when there is blood and water activated and it will disappear. You will get the new inscription which you can find in the notepad.

Type the newly found inscription. You gained access to another room, go though the crack in the wall in the Camp and use the left door.

You will be met by the Web. Click and hold to remove the web, but as you will do that the Spider will get close. You need to hide your eyes from the spider and it will go away. You can do that by opening a map for a couple of seconds. While the map is open and closing your screen Spider will leave.

Once you clear the Spider puzzle you can go forward and you will be in a trippy room with a Mushroom statue. Statue has 2 sockets and you can use your Round Gems on those.

You can select the active gem and based on that you will get different effects in the room.

What you need to do is to remember the requence on the table next to the statue.

Use this sequence by travelling to different areas in the map to get to the new area.

Green Eye: top - middle - middle - right - left - bottom

Mirror Dimension[edit source]

Mirror Dimension. You enter green mirror dimension where everything is upside down. There is a pile on the floor, but it requires more light. lantern doesn't seem to help.

Door on the floor leads to a room with mirrror to return to the normal world and another inscription for the stones above the mirror.

Door on the left leads you to Impale Sewers room which is upside down, crack in the wall leads to another room.

In this room you will find a hole in the ceiling, which you can't reach. Use the Ladder to be able to get there. Once up, click and hold to remove the vines. There is something out there that you can't reach right now.

The portal in the back leads to the Room full of Eyes. Legend says the spirits shall grant the light to whomever is able to let them concentrate. You can click on the Pedistal and install Metal Rod there. You can iteract with a metal rod, but it won't do anything returning "I can't use taht right now".

Go back to the normal world through the mirror and input the new inscription above the mirror. New door will open.

Now you can access the stairs at the right of your camp after the Impale and Ghost area. You will need 20m Stone to build them though. This will give you access to a small room with a well and a closed door.

Blue Eye: bottom - bottom - right - right - left - top

Using this sequence in the map gives you access to a new trader. You can trade Helolith prestige currency for bonus % to DM, Material Production or Click Power.

If we go back from him we will be in the Mirror Dimension again where the Normal Trader is. Going forward through the bridge will lead us to a green painting symbols puzzle.

Solving the puzzle leaves us in an area with 4 paths with eyes looking at us. Use lantern to see which path is clear, by finishing this you will be back to the Mirror Dimension Camp. Now camp has a crack in the wall like in the normal dimension. It leads to the new trader. You will also get a Rope somewhere during this sequence.

You can leave through the mirror to the normal dimension.

You can go to the main dimension and extinguish the fire. It will make fire light up in the mirror dimension allowing you to grab the Coin from the pile in the Mirror Camp.

If you go back to normal dimension you can drop Coin into the well on the right of the Camp to get the new Inscription. Use it and another door will open.

Go back to the Well area at the right of the Camp and go into the newly opened room. You will find a bell there. Click on it and select Rope. Now ring the bell and you will get a Saw.

Make sure that the water is running in the Normal Dimension and go into the Mirror Dimension. Go into a Mirror Sewer Room and use Saw on Sewer. It will break, but you can't get through. Go back to the Normal Dimension, turn water off and go to the Mirror Dimension Sewers. Now the biomass is on the floor and you can get Crank in it. (*Maybe you can start with water off in the Normal Dimension and make it faster, but I did it how I described*).

Go to the Normal Dimension Well and install the Crank on the Well. Use it.

Now we go back to Mirror Dimension to the room on the left of the Mirror Camp where we put the ladder. Now we will see a basket with a Metal Rod. Take it.

Go into the Eyes room next to it and install second Metal Rod on the Pedestal. Hit it and get the Torch.

Go back to the Normal Camp, through the Coffins and to the Angels. Give the left Angel the Torch.

Final Door and Boss[edit source]

In order to get the final Inscription save the game and go back to the main menu. In will decrypt on the right side of the screen. Save it, go back in the game and type it above the mirror. Last door will open. You are ready to fight a boss.

Although to fight the boss you will need to go through floors 1-1000 in one go, so grind a bit more, get stronger and do it!

Now all you need to do is enter the room and defeat the Boss. Make sure to turn on music, it adds to the immersion.

Afterwards you will get QTA clicker fight with the boss. It seems that poking its eyes prevents the Boss from attacking. Stages 2 and 3 are pretty easy and straightforward though.

When the God is defeated you will have a new path and 2 ending options. Pick any, you will be able to load the game and pick the second ending too.

Which ending is good... well, that's up to you to decide.

Naturally Skilled[edit source]

I think Naturally Skilled Achievement deserves its own paragraph. In order to get this achievement you have to start a new game and get to floor 10 without dying and prestige. Abandoning the run is considered dying as well.

Your best strat is farming floor 1 where you can leave the fight safely after any enemy. Get enough Meat to upgrade the Wood Storage, get upgrades and get levels. When you are confident go for floor 2 and make sure to enable "leave at floor 3" toggle. This will allow you to exit the fight safely.

Focus on upgrading the Pants, Weapon and Helmet. Getting higher regen than enemy damage is essential.

While farming enemies you will gain exp that will increase your level and health pool. You will need couple thousand health to safely complete the run.

Also this might be a good place to actually use "Looping Current Floor" option. If you can defeat all enemies on the floor and still have same or higher amount of HP - you can farm the floor. Especially since you are getting the floor completion bonuses and stack them. You can do that, stack regen and go for the higher floor.

The easiest strat though is leaving after each floor, recovering HP and going to the next one. Somewhere around floor 4-5 you will start getting exponential health growth. This is when you are ready to progress. Just make sure you are not dying.

In case if you feel like dying though or won't be able to complete the floor alt+f4. This way you won't have to start from the scratch.

Once you will get to floor 10, you will get the achievement.
